Battle of
the Masts (Arabic: That Al-Sawari) was an extr emely bloody sea battle fought in 655 between the navies of Musli m Arabs and the Byzantine Empire [1]. Behind him, the Caliphate o f Umar awija, one of the companions of the prophet Muhammad, and the year 640 the governor of Syria Umar asked for permission to build a fleet of war and take the offensive against the forces of the Byzantine sea.
